This outing surely rivals the Iron Dog Brigade in the annals of Snowmobiling Lore!!! And, #39 was no exception to that legend. The Old Timers from the beginning, John Pearson, Roy Bewick and Keith Lightfoot rode new-tech 4-strokers with the tenacity of old-line sledders from the early years!! It was like 1975 all over again, except more comfortable.
The snow arrived just in time, but it came very abundantly! Even though nay-sayers were poo-pooing the trip as early as Jan. 24th, this year’s ride was the best snow in nearly a decade.
Again we enjoyed Big-John Pearson presenting each of the riders with Libby’s time-honored secret recipe for special Hot Buttered Rums. As usual, Cheryl and Wade and their crew did a bang-up job again at the Village Inn (A Gracious Country Inn—except for the BJ week) showing that they know our routine even better than we do. They are already expecting us again for #40 on February 4-9, 2014.
The sledders that partook in the 2013 expedition (and their # of trips) were: John Pearson (39), Roy Bewick (38), Bill Schroeder (31), Jim Alford (23), Keith Lightfoot (23), and Tom Orne (22)!
Dave Hagen and Dave Mohr were tied up in the Sonoran Desert, but both are planning to fly back next year for the big 4–0.
