We have reconstructed the Vette according to all the original documents utilizing all the original components of the car as it was manufactured.

I’ll document here the work order, the components and the assembly of the original 1968 Corvette as it was initially built and, subsequently, as it was restored.

This Corvette Convertible was built in St. Louis on Wednesday, December 20, 1967. The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is 194678S40751. About 1000 assembly workers covered 2 shifts in the plant, 5 days per week. In addition to incoming components and supplies, there were 2 main assembly operations, body and frame. The body assembly assigned ‘in plant’ job order numbers from 1 to 500. This vehicle was assigned # 110 (as seen in lower photo). The body joined the frame and drive train on the frame assembly line, which assigned the VIN # shown above. The car was shipped to dealer #525 in Zone #29.
