A Four Generation History:

                

1-ARLYN HERSCHEL HAGEN (B:1920, Roseau, Mn. D:2005, Roseau, Mn.)
sp—THELMA CHRISTINE DAHLGREN (B:1921, Roseau, Mn.) 
 
Four Children:  David, Jon, Warren, Susan.
Address:  MN	 
Occupation: Retired Farmers.  Arlyn also was a rural mail carrier and worked for the Swietzer Flax Straw Co.  Thelma also 
worked at the First National Bank and at the Federal Dept. of Agricultural Office.
Hobbies:  Their Great-Grandchildren.
Family History:  They were both born and raised in Roseau.  After marriage, they lived in Milwaukee where Arlyn 
worked at the Kohering Co.  He then served in Europe during WW II.  After his return, they bought the farm east of 
Roseau which is still in the family.   They raised four children there.   After retirement, they spent their winters in South 
Texas for the first 15 years.  They each celebrated their 80th Birthdays with a big family ‘bash’ and in 2002 celebrated 60 
years of marriage at an intimate gathering at the local Church.  Arlyn passed away peacefully at age 84 on February 10, 
2005 just after their 63rd anniversary.  Thelma stayed on the farm for a while before relocating to an extremely active 
residence where she knows everyone.

	2—DAVID ARLYN HAGEN (B:1942, Milwaukee, Wisc.)

Children:  David has one son, Jeff.   Patty has two daughters, Erin and Elizabeth.

Occupation:   David retired as Manufacturing Director at 3M Co. in 1999.
Patty is an Attorney in private practice with the specialty of Estate Planning.
Dave and Patty's hobbies include grandchildren, traveling and log cabin building.   He also studies Scandinavian 
genealogy, automobile restoration and internet applications, while she devours any fiction within reach and walks 4 
miles per day.

		3—JEFFREY DAVID HAGEN (B:1966, Robbinsdale, Mn.)
		sp--ROBYN LYNN HANSEN (B:1966, Minneapolis, Mn.)  
Address:  MN.
Two children, Tessa and Jordan.
Occupation:   Jeff and Robyn are both graduates of the U. of Minn.  He is employed as a Computer Software Senior 
Specialist and together they are raising their two very active young adults.  Jeff has previously telecommuted from his 
home office, a very likely sign of future commercial business.  They completed an aggressive home improvement 
program, then sold that house, and have since built a wonderful new home.

			4-TESSA KRISTINE HAGEN (B:1994, Maplewood, Mn.)
Tessa is a Seventh Grader, having moved to a new school district last year and acquired a full set of new friends and new 
experiences in the process.  She is very fashion and style conscious, just as she’s always been since she was a child 
princess.  Her latest hobbies include books, clothes, music and soccer—and boys.
			4-JORDAN JEFFREY HAGEN (B:1996, Maplewood, Mn.)
Jordy is learning everything he can in order to catch up to Tessa, each day bringing a new adventure.  He is occupied in 
Fourth Grade, where he devours all knowledge available.  Jordy is already a mathematical prodigy, and is completely 
engrossed in all sports and action heros.  He’s a core member of the Traveling Soccer Squad.   Girls are on the periphery 
of his radar at this time.

		3-ERIN KATHLEEN O'BRIEN (B:1971, Omaha, Neb.)
Address:  CA   
Erin is the  manager of a Fashion Retail chain and runs her own Dog Care business.  She graduated from the Horst 
Academy in Minneapolis and previously worked as a stylist throughout the twin cities market.   She volunteers her time 
to the animal shelter in addition to her dog-caring & walking business.

		3-ELIZABETH ANN O'BRIEN (B:1974, Rochester, Mn.)

Two Children:  Joe & Carolyn
Elizabeth is busy raising their young family and manages to work part-time at an advertising agency in Minneapolis 
while John is employed in advertising law after graduating Magna Cum Laude from William Mitchell in St. Paul.   She 
gradulated from Creighton and he from Iowa State.   Between children’s activities and household improvement, there’s 
no time for oneself anymore in their household.

                               4-JOSEPH PATRICK PICKERILL (B:2002, Mpls., Mn.)
Joe arrived fashionably late, just one day after his due-date.  He still runs the household even though Carolyn has arrived 
to challenge him on that.  He’s already wearing Dolphin colors, and has become extremely conversational with everyone 
lately on any subject from toys to politics!!

		     4-CAROLYN SARAH PICKERILL (B:2005, Mpls., Mn.)
Carolyn hit her due date right on the mark and was bawling loudly 2 hours after her Mommy checked into the hospital!!!   
She was so well behaved and quiet that Joe didn’t even realize that he’d being challenged for Head of the Household, but 
now she’s into her terrible twos and he’s running scared!!

	2— JON RICHARD HAGEN (B:1947, Roseau, Mn.) 
	sp- BONNIE LAMAE SWART (B:1948, Badger, Mn.)
						
Two Children:  Kelly and Kathy
Address:   MN   
Occupation:   Jon is a rural mail carrier and Bonnie is a hospital administrator.  Jon previously taught school in Red Lake 
Falls, Mn.  They both sing in Church and Community groups.  Jon is active in woodworking, auto restoration, 
snowmobiling and amateur radio and Bonnie in bowling, golf, crafting and youth groups.   They’re both super-involved 
in their grandchildren.

		3—KELLY MARIE HAGEN (B:1975, Roseau, Mn.)

Two Children:  Katelyn & Logan
Kelly and Scott built their own home outside of town and have remodeled a second house for resale.  He is active in the 
family advertising business and she is employed at the local bank.  Their two kids are on a path to each be like his/her 
parent.

                               4-KATELYN MARIE KOFSTAD (B:2001, Roseau, Mn.)
Katelyn is a big girl--already in kindergarten. She likes having a younger brother who desperately needs her to take care 
of him.  She will be in charge of the Day Care Center very soon, and Logan will be looked after quite well as he grows up.

                                4-LOGAN TYLER  KOFSTAD (B:2004, Roseau, Mn.)
Logan has recently come onto the scene, but is quickly to become the ‘Daniel Boone’ of the family.  His dad has already 
been seen teaching him to cast a fishing line and is tooling a hunting rifle to fit his grasp.

		3—KATHY CHRISTINE HAGEN (B:1979, Roseau, Mn.)

Two Children:  Morgan & Taylor
Kathy graduated from the St. Cloud Technical College and is a local banker and Matt is managing the retail food industry.  
Their second-born, Taylor, is now occupying much of their waking hours!!   Morgan, meanwhile, has moved into 
Senior-Sibling status.

                                4-MORGAN CHRISTINE ZENCIUS (B:2004, St.Cloud, Mn.)
Morgan was their first family arrival.  Born 9 pounds, 3 ounces with lots of dark hair, 
she is a real charmer!!  She now embarks with zeal onto the task of mentoring her little 
sister, Taylor!!  

		  4-TAYLOR ANN ZENCIUS (B:2007, Roseau, Mn.)
Taylor is the latest addition to the family.  Weighing in at 7 pounds, 3 ounces, she has 
set her sights on becoming the main character in her surroundings for some time to 
come!!

	2—WARREN JAMES HAGEN (B:1948, Roseau, Mn.)

Three Children:  Paula, Todd, Kari.
Address:    MN  
Occupation:   Warren rents out his farm and manages a large gardening operation on the home farm.  Marsha is a 
registered nurse at the Roseau Hospital where she does In-Home Health Care.  Their primary activity in the last year has 
been giving full attention to their new grandchildren.

		3—PAULA RENAE HAGEN (B: 1972, Mons, Belgium)

Three  Children:  Adam, Ellie & Lauren
Paula is a Nurse and Todd is a Sales Manager.  They are balancing careers with the ever-expanding  joy of parenthood and 
have recently moved into a new home back in the old home town.

			4-ADAM HEDLUND (B: 1998, St. Cloud, Mn.)
Adam is extremely proud of his sisters, and was very gracious in giving up his role as ‘head of the household’ in the 
Hagen family.   He’s already deeply into a hockey career.
                        4-ELLIE RENAE HEDLUND (B: 2000, St. Cloud, Mn.)
Ellie is looking forward to having little Lauren as her ally  in the Hagen family balance of power struggle and is quickly 
learning her role as ‘Middle Child’.  She is quite a dancer.
			4-LAUREN CAROL HEDLUND (B:2004, St. Cloud, Mn.)
Lauren has become the new ‘head of the household’ and is dominating the family agenda, both by day and by 
night!

Two Children:  Austin & Rylee
Todd & Nicole recently returned to home country, where they enjoy the outdoor lifestyle and find it a great place to raise 
a family.   They were soon blessed with a couple new additions to their family.

Austin has become the new ‘Fishing Champ’ of Roseau County

Rylee is presently dominating the family agenda, both by day and by night!

		3—KARI LEE HAGEN (B:1980, Roseau, Mn.)

Kari graduated from the University of North Dakota with a Specialized Degree in Dietary Medicine, and is well into 
developing her career and starting a new household.   Jeff & Kari were married in Oct 2010 during a Wedding Cruise to 
the Grand Cayman Island.

			4—JEFF ROBINSON, JR

Jeff  graduated from a Creative Arts High School program and is studying the same field at the University. 

			4—KENNEDY CAROL ROBINSON

Kennedy graced the Hagen family with her presence on Sunday, January 23rd, 2012 at 2am, weighing in at 8 pounds, 9 
ounces and is still the perfect example of a healthy bouncing baby girl!!!

			4—KAMRYN  EVELYN ROBINSON

Kamryn became the latest (and, who knows, perhaps the last) of this generation of our Hagen family on December 26th, 
2013, weighing in at 8 pounds, 1 ounce and is already trying to out-charm her big sister!!!

	2—SUSAN KAY HAGEN (B:1953, Roseau, Mn.) 
       	 sp-HOWARD CUMMINGS 

Address:  MN
Occupation:   Susan and Howard recently relocated back to Minnesota from sunny San Diego.  Shortly thereafter, 
Howard passed away suddenly.   Sue has remained here, continuing her employment long-distance, and is a tremendous 
support for her mother.  She recently acquired a new home and has transposed her work into an on-line, high-speed 
internet operation which she operates as a free-lance independent contractor.
